This operations is preformed for patients who have excess tissue in the abdomen.it is a common procedure done in young patients after deliveries. The excess skin that droops and is irregular is tightened and the abdominal muscles (which tend to separate in the midline) are sutured together giving a flatter more youthful abdomen. This implies a scar low in the abdomen, in the bikini line.
In older patients there may be an apron of skin and fat that overhangs the pubic area. A liposuction of the abdomen is often done simultaneously. This operation requires general anesthesia.
Usually a drain is put in place and removed, on average, 5 days after surgery. Showers are allowed after 48 hours and an elastic garment is recommended for 2-3 weeks.
Depending of the extent of the surgery the recovery may be between one and three weeks.
The final result of any treatment or esthetic procedure may vary from patient to patient.
